Worship Services at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

Praising and Proclaiming the Risen Christ

Prince of Peace offers a vibrant Lutheran worship experience using a variety of musical styles and liturgical settings.

The worship life of the congregation is shaped by a uniquely Lutheran emphasis on Word and Sacrament, a love of language and image, and high-quality music, both traditional and contemporary. The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated at every Sunday service and many special services as well. The sacrament of Holy Baptism is celebrated on special festivals and on times arranged through the church office.

In Worship the Holy Spirit gathers us around the means of grace – the saving words and the sacrament. From the table of communion where Jesus comes with forgiveness, life and salvation, God send us out to sharing the good news and to care for those in need.

Our Worship

Our Worship often begins with Confession of our Sins, before God, at the Baptismal Font, reminding us of where God first came to us with forgiveness of sins.

The scriptures
are read by Lay Leaders at
each service, and include a reading from the Old Testament,
or from the
New Testament
 >>

The Gospel is to remind us of what Jesus taught His Disciples, and are His Words to us as well.

The Children's Sermon: One of the warmest moments in our worship is listening to these special sermons and seeing the children's reactions to the ideas presented and the fun things that Pastor asks them to do! We have archived approximately 35 of these sermons on our Internet Audio section as an inspiration even to us adults!

Children of all ages are welcome to worship. There are "worship bags - filled with quiet games for the smaller children. All children of elementary school age are invited forward for the children's sermon.

Sermons
Sermons bring God's Word to us and teach us about how God wants us to live our everyday lives. Because of their value, We have archived approximately 40 of these sermons on our Internet Audio Archive as an inspiration even to us adults!

Many sermons are also available online on a Smartphone using an app such as "Beyondpod" and one or more of the RSS feeds on our website.

Sermons are sometimes preached by our Student Seminarian, or by lay members of the congregation relating stories of how God has influenced their lives.

<<Offertory Anthem
Our adult choir has approximately 20 members, and offers most anthems throughout the year. Choir is directed by R.Douglas Helvering, Minister of Music. Many in the congregation are gifted in music and provide it with specific instruments; as an ensemble, or in a special vocal offering.

The Church supports Youth and Adult Bell/Chime Choirs as well as Youth and Childrens vocal Choirs.

Taking Communion - all baptized Christians and all  who come seeking the real presence of our Lord and Savior in the bread and wine for forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith, are welcome at our communion table.

It is a moment where the individual comes face to face with God. It is a moment where each one personally remembers Jesus's command at the time of the Last Supper to do this in remembrance of Him, of His sacrifice, and of His promise
of forgiveness
and salvation.

<< The Prayer of the Church
The Prayers of Intercession offered by a lay Worship Assistant reflect the wideness of God's mercy for the whole world.

Almighty and merciful God,
bless, preserve and
keep you,
this day and
forevermore.

Amen

Children are welcome

There is always a place for children at Prince of Peace! As you look around the sanctuary on a Sunday morning, you see that children are a part of our worshiping community. Their presence there grows out of the Biblical tradition of Jesus welcoming children and out of an effort to educate children about worship and engage them in the worship life at Prince of Peace.
