Dear God,
We lift our hearts to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We trust that You hold them in Your tender embrace, secure in Your eternal care.

We recognize the shadow of violence that looms over our world: sometimes it erupts with the force to destroy, as we saw on that fateful day, and sometimes it manifests in subtler ways—through attitudes, beliefs, and words that wound. We confess that even within ourselves, there are traces of this darkness.

Cleanse us from every shadow of unrighteousness and renew us with Your spirit of justice. We lean on Your boundless mercy, seeking Your healing touch.

Help us to forgive those who have caused us pain and suffering, remembering them in Your compassionate love. When Your teachings call us to “turn the other cheek” and not resist evil, we find ourselves bewildered. We lack a clear vision of a kingdom of peace, save for Your own example.

Console us in our grief, O Gentle One. Speak through our confusion and lead us toward the path of peace. Let Your light shine in our darkness, guiding us with Your wisdom and love.
In Your name, we pray,
